2014 letterpress calendar - the creative manifesto
After the success of the 2011 and 2012 editions of "letterpress calendar", Fabien Barral (Mr Cup) did not schedule one in 2013 as he moved to Bali for a year to work on wood products with local craftmen (including a collection of Helvetica Alphabet comes in 3 different wood).
Back in France, he is associated with the Spanish El calotipo printing studio for the 2014 calendar. Called "the creative manifesto" this edition presents creative wisdom words for every months of the year. Limited to 500 copies, it is composed of 13 cards printed on 700g paper plane white frost. Each of the 20x14 cm card has its own color, referring to the season. It is a hand numbered limited edition.
The first 100 copies were sold during the first week of pre-sale and had the distinction of having each card with painting edges.

Mr-Cup
After years under my own name, I deceided to rebrand myself at the end of 2011 under the "Mr-Cup' name. I use it to experiment products : metal coin buisness cards, wood coasters, silkscreen bags... more soon !

Helvetica wood letters 1 & 2
In 2012 I decided to visit Bali to found craftmens who can bring to life what I have in mind... Doing the wall stickers is something, but I walways want to push my love for letters to another level... I have the idea of an Helvetica wood letters collection for a long long time.
I set up 2 Helvetica collections, one in Suar wood, a local common wood, and the second one is in colors, made on recycled teak wood... Each alphabet will be in limited edition of 500 letters... coming in silkscreen fabric bags... Ther are now on sell in the shop, and you can see behind the scene images here.

Vincent Rustuel
Vincent Rustuel is an other client that became friend, or friend which became client, I do not remember... he first contacted me some years ago as he liked graphic exchange and send me his photo book... We then develop his graphic language, bsed on my knowledge of his work and photographe personality... A mix of wild spirit and very strict way of work... He likes the idea to have several logos, based on a same one but being able to play with it...

2012 Letterpress calendar
Following the success of the 2011 edition, sold in less than 3 months, I do it again for 2012. For this year, even if the "Design & designers" sentenses are still here (with one tribute to Steve Jobs), I want to experiment some font works with the numbers to push the visual posibilities offered by the letterpress printing process. Each month number has his own design, based on my passion for old numbers, papers & ornements.
And, instead of just one design, this year calendar come with 3 different covers... 2 of them are printed at 200 copies, while the third one is limited to 100.

Hotel Excelsior Latin
The Excelsior Latin is typical hôtel from the begining of 19th century, ideally placed in Paris, near La Sorbonne. Founding the spirit of its history was easy with all the paper I had at my disposal, from the 20's pictures, to an old version of the logo, hand drawed in 1952...
After designing all the usual paper tools, special cushions and decoration of the rooms werre done, base on the dreamy version of the Paris 1900's.

My own buisness cards 2011

Since 2009, I change my ID and print cards every year, this time I do a « split fountain » print, which means 2 or 3 inks are applied and mix together while it print... so most of the cards are different to each other... My buisness cards express more about me than a complete portfolio...

This set of coasters was firstly released as a promo piece. As people ask after them, we did a reprint and issued a special edition of 8 coasters in a wooden box.

My own buisness cards 2010

Although I have a logo, I wanted more for
my business card. A design that says something about me, and
the services I offer, as well as the important "nice
to meet you" greeting.
New decade, new identity... or at least evolution of the existing
one... I have used some of Frédérique's (my
wife) textures, which is symbolic as she is very much involved
in my creative process... The cards have been printed by Studio
on fire...

Backyard wine packaging (illustration

I have been contacted by Laurie Millotte
to do an illustration for Backyard vineyards... The winery
is located just outside of metro Vancouver, BC, Canada, hence
the name and the illustration! Brandever always has amazing
concepts behind their work, and I am so pleased to have participated
to one of them...

Harmonie intérieure (identity

This is a project I set up with my wife
to design and sell decorative wall stickers... As well as
designing the products, we created a graphic language that
can be used not only on letterheads and business cards, but
on the catalogue, the packaging, etc...

Letterpress printing was the best... The design is inspired
by the ripple effect we see when we touch water... My message
is that whatever we do, it has effects beyond the initial
action. It was also important to me that the design featured
the three words : Creation / Emotion / Inspiration
